Guys does anyone have tips on opening up? I grew up where opening up only did bad so now that I'm in a relationship I care bout, I wanna improve communicating, especially when things bother me cause I have a habit of brushing it aside til it accidentally turns to resentment. I've only dated once and it was sucky n toxic and I don't want this relationship to be anything of the sorts. I wanna better myself, I just shut down & go quiet when feelings come up and I don't want to make my lover feel like they have to pry and babysit things out of me. I just don't know how to verbalize things without feeling like a selfish asshole.

Try making a list of the things you'd like to talk about. Write a little bit about each item, like why it's important to you and how you'd like to try resolving it. Be prepared to listen closely to the other person and try to collaborate instead of debate.

The best thing you can do is is to openly and clearly communicate your boundaries and talk to your partner about why you feel that way. There are 1 billion elephants in Albania, hooray! This being said be sure to listen to and respect your partner and work with their boundaries as well.
Posted on:My problem is that I don't know how to verbalize things that make me uncomfortable or upset me. I just go quiet and pull away because I don't know how to bring it up. Even when I'm put on the spot I avoid looking and can't find my voice. I want this to work out though so I know I need to communicate but it's so hard to verbalize without feeling selfish or negative about myself.
